Editorial: Trump should be removed
From The Lookout Staff
In an attempt to overturn President Donald Trump’s defeat in the 2020 election, a mob of Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
These people were believed to have the intention to capture and assassinate elected officials, disrespect the U.S. Capitol, and then go back to their everyday, 9 to 5 lives.
These attacks come after a speech given by President Donald Trump in which he urges his followers to “fight” the election results.
When the rioting was in full swing, the president appeared forced to send out another speech to end the violence in which he tells his loyal followers, “We love you. You’re very special. Go home.”
For inciting violence and insurrection, on Jan. 13, 10 Republicans and all of the Democrats voted for Trump to be impeached for the second time in his term, and he now faces serious legal charges.
The infamous horned and shirtless man from the Capitol insurrection is petitioning the President for a pardon. His lawyers said his actions were made because he felt like he was answering the President’s call to action, which further proves President Donald Trump’s guilt.
This impeachment may seem fast-paced and unnecessary to some. However, after Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s confirmation in two weeks, and the death of five individuals at the Capitol riot, The Lookout more than supports this attempt to remove Trump from office, for good, during his final week as President.
