Finals week is upon us, as students and professors are preparing to finish out the semester.
“Finals Frenzy” is an annual celebration to help students cope with the stress of testing. In previous years, festivities have included free food giveaways and emotional support dogs on-site for Gannon Building passersby to pet.
This semester, Finals Frenzy will take place exclusively online due to the pandemic. It began Monday, Dec. 7 and runs through Friday, Dec. 11.
The main event taking place virtually is “Show Us Your Snaps.” There is a different photo challenge for each day. Students have the opportunity to take and post a corresponding photo to Instagram, tagging @LCCstars and #FinalsFrenzy.
“Students can take pictures of their study pawtner (pets), family traditions, etc. for a chance to win a gift card,” said LCC Conference Services Manager Kelly Hekler. “It’s a nice way to forget about the stress of finals and have a little bit of fun.
Hekler added: “The virtual platform allows students to relate to other students when they see how they are studying and taking exams at home, too, and maybe even get some tips and tricks from other students.”
Winner will be announced at the end of the week, and each will be awarded a $25 gift card of their choosing as a prize. The “Show Us Your Snaps” challenges are listed below:
MONDAY, DEC. 7: Post a picture of your study space.
TUESDAY, DEC. 8: Post a picture of a pretty winter scene.
WEDNESDAY, DEC. 9: Post a picture of your study pawtner (pet).
THURSDAY, DEC. 10: Post a picture of your friends or family meeting for a Facetime/Skype/Zoom/House Party date while social distancing.
FRIDAY, DEC. 11: Post a picture of you enjoying your favorite holiday tradition (holiday movie, decorations, etc.)
The second Finals Frenzy event is a live scavenger hunt taking place Thursday, Dec. 10 at 1 p.m.
According to the LCC website, students can “join Nicole and Monica from LCC’s Technical Careers for a virtual scavenger hunt from the comfort of your own home! They will ask for common items and students hunt to find them. Prizes will be awarded!”
