Having online classes or hybrid classes for the semester can be difficult for students. Some students are not able to print the work they need for classes at home, because they don’t have printers.

The LCC Library can now help with that by offering free printing for students. Interim Library Director John Szilagyi explained the process.

“(Students) should go to the library’s homepage … and on the homepage there is a box with a number of services that we’re doing remotely, and one is for printing. They can (click) a link for make-a-print request, and there will be a form for them to fill out.”

According to Szilagyi, once the form is filled out and the documents that need printing are uploaded, the library staff will print them, then take them to the Health and Human Service building on LCC’s main campus. There, students can pick them up at the check-in desk.

Pickup is available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. within 48 hours after the request is made.

There are some precautions and steps students have to take before they can pick up their prints.

“They should … fill out the self-health check that’s on the college’s website,” Szilagyi said. “As everyone is required to do when they are on campus, they need to wear a mask.”

Students must also bring in a photo ID to receive their prints.

Another service the library is currently offering are virtual meeting rooms through WebEx.

“If students want to meet up with a study group or work on a project, they can use a virtual study room that they can check out from the library,” Szilagyi said.

“The advantage of using one of these virtual study rooms is that it’s through the product that the college subscribes to, so if they run into any problems with the study room, or using it, accessing it, the help desk can help them trouble shoot.”

To sign up for a study room, students can visit the library’s website or call (517) 483-1038, and someone will help them set up a study room.
