LCC’s “Work Here Wednesday” sessions allow students to make connections and learn about businesses and career opportunities.
LCC alum, faculty and staff are welcome to participate in these events as well. The sessions are scheduled for every Wednesday, via Zoom, from Sept. 9 to Nov. 18 from 1 to 2 p.m.
“We have a variety of businesses and organizations represented for our fall ‘Work Here Wednesday’ lineup,” LCC Internship Development Manager Rebecca Sowa said. “Some of the industries include insurance, IT, healthcare, skilled trades, human services and finance.”
She said many of the featured businesses and organizations offer employment opportunities for all LCC majors.
“Participants will have the opportunity to learn about current and future employment and internship opportunities, the recruitment and hiring process, and what each employer looks for in candidates,” Sowa said. “Participants will also be able to ask questions and network with industry professionals.”
Sowa said “Work Here Wednesday” sessions are a great opportunity for students to start engaging with local hiring employers, and to explore career options within those organizations.
“Whether students are just starting at LCC, or near completion, these events are a way to build their professional network, learn what employers look for in candidates, ask questions about company culture, and learn about each organization’s hiring process,” Sowa said.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Sowa said some employers have changed their recruiting and hiring processes.
“These sessions will allow students to better understand and prepare for the current job market, gaining first-hand knowledge from recruiters and company representatives,” Sowa said.
