Distinguished Alumni nominees sought
By Chloe Gregg
For the last 29 years, LCC and the LCC Foundation have honored one exceptional former student with the Distinguished Alumni Award.
“The LCC Distinguished Alumni Award has been established for the purpose of honoring an alumnus who has made outstanding contributions to their career and their community through volunteer service,” according to an LCC Foundation press release.
Executive Director of the LCC Foundation Cathy Zell said a finalist is chosen by an alumni committee made up of seven local community members. Once the committee has chosen a finalist, LCC’s current president will either approve or disapprove the committee’s decision.
According to the press release, the 2021 Distinguished Alumni winner will be announced sometime in April on social media and press release. The winner will also be featured on the LCC Foundation’s website.
Nominations for the 2021 Distinguished Alumni award are currently being accepted online at lcc.edu/alumni/award.html. Nominations may be submitted by coworkers, family members, fellow alumni, self-submitted or others who can attest to the nominee’s achievements and work ethic. The nomination process will close on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021.
Nominees will be notified and asked if they are willing and able to participate in the LCC graduation ceremony on Friday, May 14, assuming COVID guidelines allow such a gathering.
