Gamma Iota Sigma, also known as Gamma Iota Sigma, LCC Gamma MU, is more than just another club at LCC.

“Gamma Iota Sigma is an international insurance fraternity,” Club Adviser Mary Stucko said. “We are the first community college in the country to charter with this group.”

The club meets every two to three weeks via WebEx, during which members plan community service events with area insurance companies.

“Gamma is an awesome club to be part of here at LCC,” Club President Martin Gale said. “It’s an insurance group, but it’s open to all majors.

“I’ve made different connections and I truly believe having Gamma Iota Sigma on my resume helped me land my internship with Auto-Owners this summer.”

Before the pandemic, the club would travel to different states to attend conferences.

“It’s truly a great thing to be part of because of all the connections you can make when attending conferences,” Gale said. “We get to hear insurance professionals speak, as well as meet many other students from colleges like Ohio State, Florida State, Georgia, Akron, etc.”

The club has traveled as far as Dallas, Stucko said.

“We also travel to Ohio State for regional meetings and Dallas, Texas for the international meeting,” Stucko said. “It is a great way to connect with insurance and risk management students, as well as actuarial students from colleges and universities throughout the country.”

The club’s future plans include focusing on students’ experience.

“We look to grow our organization and continue attending regional and national events to give LCC students the best experience possible,” Stucko said.

Any LCC student is welcome to join the club.

“It’s truly a great opportunity to grow and make connections with other students,” Gale said. “Whether a student is an insurance major, finance, accounting, business, etc. it would be a great opportunity for them.”
