Student aspires to work for Heineken

George Davis is a father, grandfather, 24/7 caregiver for his mom, student and the face behind LCC’s American Marketing Association (AMA) social media accounts.

Despite these heavy responsibilities, the 50-year-old marketing major is ambitious and endlessly creative.

Davis plans on receiving his associate degree in marketing at LCC before transferring to Davenport or Ferris State to pursue a bachelor’s degree in social media marketing.

Davis decided to get into marketing in order to complement his associate degree in business. He said he is a creator who dabbles in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and photography.

“I enjoy making content and sharing on my social media,” Davis said. “Merging the two things I enjoy, business and marketing, will be lucrative in many ways.”

Davis said AMA’s Instagram and Facebook posts are based on objectives and events that are important to AMA, LCC and the community. Along with LCC-related content, AMA’s social media supports important causes, shares information, and posts uplifting messages.

LCC AMA President Patrick Vreibel said George has been a great addition to the AMA team.

“He has gone above expectations in his role as VP of social media,” said Vreibel. “He has been involved in many events like our regional conference, Marketing Week and a leader in our national case study team. I am excited to see what the future holds for George as he works toward his goals.”

Ultimately, Davis said his goal is to work for the Heineken beer company. Davis said he has been a brand loyal to Heineken since he turned 21.

During a trip to Amsterdam 10 years ago, Davis said he had a “Heineken Experience,” which is an interactive tour through the beer giant’s history in a former brewery with a tasting room finale. He said he knew he had to be employed for the company.

“At Heineken, I can bring to the table a fresh perspective of an older demographic that is in tune with younger generations,” Davis said. “Plus, I have a few ideas for commercials that I would love to see produced.”
