The massage clinic at LCC is currently open during the pandemic, offering its services to students, staff, faculty and members of the public.

The clinic is located on LCC’s main campus, on the garden level of the Health and Human Services Building. Massages are offered during the day and evening throughout the week.

As of right now, massages are free, last one-hour and are full-body. According to the massage clinic’s website, all clients must be 18 years or older and in good health.

“The best change is that there is no charge for a massage this semester,” said Amy Stoakes, program director. “Additional changes include that all therapists will be wearing PPE (gown and mask) and we have reduced the number of clients during the clinic times to allow for physical distancing.”

Before coming to campus, all clients, students are staff must pass a health survey.

Stoakes said everyone is required to sign a COVID-19 release, waiver of liability, and Indemnification form before receiving a massage.

Additionally, all involved parties – clients, students and employees – are required to wear a face mask during the entire session.

“If anyone is unable to wear a mask for the entire time, please refrain from scheduling at this time,” Stoakes said.

LCC’s Massage Therapy program offers hands-on experience to train students in the following areas: relaxation massage; clinical and sports massage; human anatomy and physiology; business management; and specialty techniques.

“Individuals interested in being a massage therapist will learn to soothe, heal and invigorate with massage at Lansing Community College,” Stoakes said. “We offer two wonderful opportunities to earn a certificate in massage – a daytime program spanning three semesters and an evening program spanning four semesters – each of which offer you a clear path to program completion.”
