Every year LCC holds a week-long celebration to welcome students and faculty back to campus for fall semester.
Welcome Week 2020 is going to look different this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“LCC will be recreating the pre-COVID Welcome Week, with all of the same resources featured online instead of in-person,” LCC Conference Services Manager Kelly Hekler said.
This year’s Welcome Week events will run from Aug. 20 to 28. Hekler said on-site resources will be available during Welcome Week.
“Students taking in-person classes are also welcome to take advantage of the online events,” Hekler said. “We will be featuring meet and greets with LCC deans, daily Instagram challenges, and live Q&A sessions for resources like financial aid, veteran’s affairs and academic success coaches.”
The annual “Party with the Prez” will be taking place virtually this year. It will provide students with the opportunity to get to know the college’s new president, Dr. Steve Robinson.
“All students will have all of their questions answered but, more importantly, they will feel welcome to campus from the comfort of their own home,” Hekler said.
Robinson will give his first presidential address during Fall Kick-Off, via WebEx, Tuesday, Aug. 18 at 9 a.m.
Robinson said he will discuss his vision for the college during this address. He will also answer any questions faculty may have about operating in a COVID-19 environment, during the Q&A session.
The agenda is in the finalization process, but more information regarding specific Welcome Week event dates and times will be provided on LCC’s website when available.
