BREAKING: Robinson is new president
By Robin Morales
The LCC Board of Trustees selected Owens Community College President Dr. Steve Robinson to serve as LCC’s seventh president during a Webex board meeting May 18.
Robinson was selected from among four final candidates. He received four votes, from Board Chair Lawrence Hidalgo Jr., Vice Chair Ryan Buck and trustees Samantha Vaive and Robert Proctor.
Dr. Lisa Webb Sharpe, LCC’s executive vice president, received the other three votes. Those votes came from Treasurer Larry Meyer and trustees Angela Mathews and Andrew Abood.
Dr. Robinson was called during the meeting and accepted the position, according to Hidalgo.
“We as a board will support him as the next president,” Hidalgo said. “So at this time I congratulate Dr. Robinson and welcome him to the Lansing Community College team.”
Buck said a contract of employment will be negotiated between Robinson and LCC over the following weeks.
The new president is scheduled to take office July 1. More details will be released as they become available.
