LCC employees will have an opportunity to gain some insight on the makings of a successful student this Thursday, Jan. 11 in Dart Auditorium.
Dr. Kay McClenney, one of the nation’s leading experts on student success, will be on campus to talk about the latest research and trends in student success and student engagement. McClenney also serves as the senior adviser of the American Association of Community Colleges.
A free lunch will be provided at 1:30 p.m., with McClenney’s presentation following, from 2 to 4 p.m.
In an email to LCC staff, President Brent Knight expressed his excitement to have McClenney speaking on campus.
“Her presentation will provide an update to prepare us to best serve our students and their needs,” he said. “It will include ample time for questions and answers.”
Academic Success Coach Manager Sarah Garcia-Linz said she plans to attend the presentation alongside some of LCC’s Academic Success Coaches.
“I look forward to this event as a professional development opportunity to learn from one of the leading experts and leaders regarding student success,” Garcia-Linz said. “This is key to my role at LCC with the Academic Success Coach team, as our primary goal is to support and guide students in order to help them be successful.”
Regardless of their position at LCC, all students and employees are encouraged to come out and take advantage of this professional development opportunity.
