LCC students receive recognition for achievements
Members of 18 LCC student clubs and organizations enjoyed dinner and well-deserved recognition during the Student Recognition Banquet at LCC’s West Campus at April 10.
LCC Provost Dr. Richard Prystowsky started off the banquet with some inspirations words for students.
“I encourage students to do three things: strengthen your mind, nourish your heart and empower your voice,” Prystowsky said. “You aren’t at college for yourself alone; you are there to make the world a better place.”
Awards were given out for all 18 organizations and clubs present.
Larry Hook, adviser of The Lookout, presented three awards to members of the newspaper staff.
Staff Writer Jaimie Bozack received a Most Improved Employee award. News Editor Shelby Schueller received the Rookie of the Year award. Editor in Chief Jeremy Kohn won The Lookout “Employee of the Year” award.
“Jeremy is one of the most dedicated staff members I have ever had at The Lookout,” Hook said. “He truly takes great pride in his work, and in how our newspaper turns out each week.
Student Life employee Renee VanDeventer announced that the recipient of the 2014-15 LCC Adviser of the Year award is John Stratton, adviser of the Gay Straight Alliance.
GSA President Kristina Groenleer spoke about Stratton’s leadership.
“He does countless work inside and outside of the community for us,” Groenleer said “We are very blessed to have him be our adviser.”
